In RE this term we are focussing on the Incarnation and our big question is ‘What is the Trinity?’. These lessons will take place via zoom on a Tuesday morning from 09:30-10:00am. There will then be a worksheet/video or resource on here for you to complete.

Term 4 - What is Humanism?

This term we are going to meet Taryn and her family, who are Humanists. We are going to find out about how being a Humanist affects their decisions and choices in life.  Humanism isn’t a religion, but a way of thinking and living. Humanists do not believe in God or gods. They believe that this is our only life, so it is very important to live a worthwhile, happy life for ourselves and others.

Today we are going to be looking at Humanist values and creating our own Humanist building! Have a look at some of the information below to help you think of ideas for your building design.

Last week we met Taryn and her family - today the family are going to share what they feel is important to them.

From looking at the quotes above from Taryn and her mum we can see that they value the following things:

• friendship
• relationships
• the natural world
• the beauty of the world
• being curious and asking questions
• freedom
• all humans around the world are part of one big extended family 

Task:

So now you have read all the information above and learnt lots of new things about what Humanists value I would like you to create a building that Humanists can come together in. These buildings bring people together to learn, to play, to support each other, or to work for the common good. All of these are activities and goals that many humanists believe we should pursue.
