Wednesday 3rd March 2021 - To orally explain a process
In this lesson, we will practise retelling the process of honey orally. We will practise using the precise vocabulary and sentence starters you have learnt already and then put all this into two written sentences at the end.
Tuesday 2nd March 2021 - To practise and apply knowledge of compound words
In this lesson, we will practise and apply our knowledge of compound words. We will learn how to practise using the spot the syllable strategy and will test the words previously set to learn.
Monday 1st March - To use precise vocabulary
In this lesson, we are going to generate different nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs to use in our writing.
To develop a rich understanding of words associated with trying hard
In this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences.

In this lesson, we are going to learn how to use apostrophes to show possession for plural nouns.
Lesson 2 - Tuesday 23rd February - Compound Words
In this lesson, we will explore compound words. We will learn what they are and look at some examples. 10 spelling words will be explained and set to learn.

In this lesson, we are going to learn about the features of explanation texts, such as the way they are organised and their language features.
Week 6 - Grammar
This week we will be focusing on SPaG (spellings, punctuation and grammar). The main focus this week will be on grammar. Please use the linked video each day for your lesson; these lessons require you to pause and play the video at different points to write things down. This our last week of remote learning before half term, well done for all your hard work so far!

Wednesday 10th February 2021
In this lesson, children will be given a definition of 'being' verbs. First, they will identify the forms of the verb 'to be' in sentences. Then, they will look at plural and singular forms of the verb 'to be'. After that, they will look at past/present tense forms of the verb 'to be' and finally, they will complete a task where they need to choose the correct verb for each sentence.
Tuesday 9th February 2021 - To explore expanded noun phrases
In this lesson, we will explore the purpose and rules of using expanded noun phrases and practise writing them, using a range of ambitious vocabulary.
Monday 8th February 2021 - To explore word classes
In this lesson, we will explore the four word classes of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We will consider their purpose and impact in writing and practise using them in our writing.
Monster Pizza!
Well done for all the fantastic persuasive letters that you wrote, Mrs Fuller and I were so impressed! We are now moving onto our next topic which is instruction writing, again this is something that we have covered in class so I know that your instructions will be fabulous!

In this lesson, we will pretend to be a monster and free write an invitation asking other monsters to come to our pizza party. We will look at an example of an invitation and then children will write their own.
Thursday 4th February 2021
In this lesson, we will recap the features of instructions and write the instructions for making a pizza for a monster using sequencing words, adverbs, adjectives and imperative verbs.
Wednesday 3rd February 2021
In this lesson, we will use adjectives to describe our ingredients. Then, we will orally rehearse our instructions, using the features of instructions we have found.
Tuesday 2nd February 2021
In this lesson, we will practise the rules associated with adding the suffixes -er and -est. We will learn how to practise using the colour blocking strategy and will test the words previously set to learn.

Well done for all your super work last week, I was really impressed with your monster recipes they all sounded revolting and very monster-like! They were superb!
Today, we will recap imperative verbs and sequencing words. We will also investigate using adverbs in instructions and write some sentences using sequencing words, verbs and adverbs.

In this lesson, we will read through instructions and find their features, including sequencing words and imperative verbs. I know that you all know what an imperative verb is; do you remember the imperative verb finger? The bossy finger? I think you might remember!
The Day the Crayons Quit
In English we will be focussing on a text called ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. By the end of this sequence of lessons we will be writing our own persuasive letter. We have practised writing persuasively before when we wrote our powerful save the planet speeches; so I am certain that your letters will be excellent! Please complete any task on paper or type it on the computer if you prefer.
