With the weather getting hotter as the week goes on, please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school every day. Please make sure that your child has suncream applied before school and if needed they can bring in suncream to top up themselves at lunchtime.
Chance to Shine Cricket Workshop
Please could Year 4 come into school in PE kits on Thursday as they will be taking part in a special Cricket workshop in the morning. This will be in addition to their normal PE lesson on Friday. Please could you also ensure children come into school with a hat and wear sun cream to school when needed.

IMPORTANT - Purple Reading Journals
In Mulberry we are having a big focus this term on reading as a number of children are not bringing in their reading journals from home into school each day. The children really want to get onto the R.A.L.F board and to do this they need to be reading daily at home and having their journal signed. Please can you ensure that your child is bringing in their reading journal to school everyday. Thank you.

In maths this week we have been working on telling the time. Today a sheet has been sent home, this sheet is for your child to practice telling the time at home. Please return this sheet after half term.

Living Lands Show - Thursday 4th May 2023
On Thursday your child needs to be dropped off at the Kent County Showground for the Living Lands Show at 9am. Please ensure that if you are driving onto the site to drop your child off (or others) that you have your 'LANE 1' sign in your window - without this you will not be allowed to drive onto the site.
All children must wear their school uniform and then a pair of comfortable shoes, please check the forecast and wear wellies if rain is due.
Children must bring the following items in a backpack:
Water proof coat
filled water bottle
packed lunch (no fizzy drinks/sweets/glass bottles)
sun hat
sun cream (for your child to reapply if needed)
Children DO NOT need any spending money. We look forward to seeing you all there at 9am.
Please be advised that if you need to drop off a sibling to school on Thursday 4th May you will be able to do so from 8:30am on the playground. Enabling you to take your year 3/4 child to the Kent County Showground.
If you are having difficulty sorting travel arrangements for your child, please hand your child’s form in (by Monday 24th April) and indicate this on the form and we will do our best to sort out travel arrangements with another parent. If you are willing and able to transport someone else’s child, please let us know as this will be greatly appreciated.

Outside no.10!
An amazing time was had by all on our trip to London...despite the terrible weather!!
Reminders for Tuesdays trip:
We are really looking forward to our school trip to London on Tuesday!
We will be going on the London Eye and will then make our way across the river to see some more of London's famous landmarks.
We are extremely lucky to be able to access Downing Street and have a photograph taken outside no.10.
Children must come in normal school uniform but can wear trainers or other comfortable shoes suitable for walking.
Children must bring a bag to carry the following items:
Water bottle
Packed lunch (usual rules apply, no fizzy drinks, sweets, or glass bottles etc)
Waterproof coat
Children do not need any spending money, mobile phones, toys etc.
West Malling Library Books
We had a wonderful time at the library and learnt lots of interesting things!
Some children were able to take books home (if they were registered on the library system). Please ensure that the books are returned to your local library on the date stamped inside the book. These books should not be taken into school and the school is not responsible for the books if they are lost or damaged.
LIBRARY CARDS - Tuesday
Tomorrow (Tuesday) we are going to West Malling Library. A parent mail was sent out to remind you about making sure your child has a library card. Please ensure that they bring it with them on Tuesday to allow them to take a book out. Thank you.

Welcome back - Term 4
Welcome back to school and into term 4. We have lots of exciting things planned this term. Next week is book week where we have an author coming in to visit and the opportunity for the children to dress up as their favourite book character. A class trip has been planned for Tuesday 28th March with letters to follow shortly.

IMPORTANT
On Wednesday (18th) the children have the exciting opportunity to plant a tree each. Please ensure that they bring to school a pair of welly boots/old shoes in a carrier bag ready to be worn for the tree planting. Children should wear their normal school shoes to school on Wednesday.

Home Learning Term 3
This term home learning will be set on a weekly basis rather than a whole term task sheet. On a Friday your child's home learning will be issued and it needs to be returned inside the home learning book on the following Wednesday. This week's home learning is based on our computing topic animation.

In DT this term we have been making castles, we planned our castles, made nets and then built our castles using card and other resources.

Snow Day Fun
In science we have been looking at forces and magnets, here we are testing how we can move an object using magnetic force
Year 3 and 4 have worked collaboratively to research a countries Christmas traditions and present them to the class.
With Yr4 we have started to grow our own sea monkeys! We have been doing lots of writing about them, check back for updates.
We had a fantastic time at the Gurdwara in Gravesend! The children’s behaviour was superb and they had some really good questions to ask whilst on our tour. Well done everyone!
School Trip - IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
Tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd) we are going to the Gurdwara in Gravesend. Please may I remind you of the following important information:
Your child needs to bring with them:
a packed lunch {no meat products} (unless you have request the school to provide)

We really enjoyed our basketball lesson this week!
We have been using the laptops to research Albatrosses! We are using OneNote on Office365 to store our research!
In science we have become toyologists and have been doing research for Smyths Toys! We have been testing out a new race car. We have been working out what the best surface is for the race car ramp in order for the car to travel quickly!

On Tuesday your child was given a heatmap from TTRS to show their current times table knowledge. The grey are questions that your child hasn't been exposed to often (if your child uses the app regularly then they won't have many grey boxes).

Poppies and Poetry Workshop - today we had a workshop in school themed around remembrance.
Welcome back to school and back to term 2….the lead up to Christmas is upon us! Please keep an eye on the class page for all the latest information.
Stone Age Day! The children have had an amazing day exploring the Stone Age! We have carved our own Stone Age tools, made clay pots to store grain in and made a wattle and daub wall! We finished the day off with hot dogs cooked on the fire and shelter building!
Harvest Festival - the children did a fantastic job! Well done!
In science this week we conducted a simple fair test to see how hard rocks are.
We had a fantastic time in our OAA session this week
We used things we found outside like grass, blackberries and flowers to paint like our ancestors use to!
On Friday we used oats, wheat and couscous to make a texture wall for our cave paintings
Today we logged onto our office 365 accounts and typed up our wonderful jungle poems!
In science this week we carried out an investigation to see how permeable different rocks are.
This morning we took our maths learning outside and we looked at the number line to 1,000 - we decided where we needed to be for each number on the line
Today we used place value counters to represent 3 digit numbers within place value grids

ENRICHMENT WEEK - UNIFORM CHANGES
Wednesday & Thursday, 21st & 22nd September: could you please send your child/ren into school dressed in their P.E kit.
Friday, 23rd September: the children will be taking part in Forest School activities. Please send them into school dressed in clothes that you don't mind them getting dirty! The clothing should include long sleeves and (long) trousers and a pair of old shoes or wellington boots. They should also bring in a pair of trainers or school shoes to change into once their activities have finished.

Meet the teacher
Meet the teachers in Mulberry class on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday the 14th of September from 2.30-2.50pm. This is a great opportunity to see the classroom, to talk with the teachers and to also hear about our expectations etc for this year, especially with the children coming up to ks2.
Wednesday 7th September - During our science lesson we looked at different rocks and group them into different categories based on their appearance
Monday 5th September - we enjoyed making jellyfish and writing about why we love reading ready for our new book corner display!

PE is on a Monday and Friday this term so if you see this message in time please come to school in your PE kit on the first day back
Children need to bring to school a water bottle please
Your child does NOT need to bring in ANY stationery/pencil cases etc this is all provided and we don't have the space for these in the classroom trays, thank you for your understanding.
Children in KS2 are NOT given fruit/veg at break time, if you would like your child to have a healthy snack please send this into school.
