The Big Little Nativity

Walk to West Malling!

As part of our geography topic to find out about our local area, we are visiting West Malling tomorrow to do some fieldwork. We will follow a route on a map and survey the uses of different buildings on our High Street. We will use this to learn more about what our local area has to offer and the jobs that people do.

The children are not requesting to bring anything special- just a warm coat!

Welcome back to Term 2!

As Christmas approaches, EYFS and Key Stage 1 will be working hard rehearsing their nativity- 'The Big Little Nativity'!

Please find below an image supported version of the song lyrics. Your child will also be taking a copy home to practise.

Poppy Learner of the week 12th October 2021

Bobby for fantastic effort in reading, contributions in class discussions and making good choices! Well done!

Goldilocks and The Three Bears Audio Book

Poppy Class have worked together to create an audio book to retell the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'.

We had fun thinking up ways to represent sounds in the story e.g. plastic bags to sound like leaves and squashing our cheeks to make squishy cushion noises!

Click on the speaker buttons in the PowerPoint to hear the sound effects- We hope you enjoy it!

Well done to Ethan who has been nominated as Poppy Class School Councillor this year!

Between Monday 11th October and Friday 15th October we will be taking part in the 2021 Mini London Marathon. We will be running, jogging and walking 2.6 miles through the week. Children should therefore wear their PE kit to school every day of that week.

On Friday 15th October, to mark the end of the challenge, children have the option to dress up for the day as their sporting role model. They are welcome to dress up as any sporting star from tennis to gymnastics to swimming or anything in between.

As part of this challenge, we will be raising money for local charity the Heart of Kent Hospice to support our school community’s contribution to ‘Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade.’ Each child should therefore gather sponsorships to take part in the event and donations can be made via our school ‘Virgin Money Giving’ page on the link below. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/WestMallingMiniMarathon

We hope that this will be a fun, inclusive event where children of all ages and abilities can raise money for a fantastic local cause, whilst taking part in a whole school event.
