Year R Chestnut

Science morning

Fantastic way to spend our last day in Chestnut Class, carrying out science experiments with our Year 6 buddies. We will miss you!

Term 6

What an amazing term and a fabulous year! So proud of Chestnut class and all their achievements. We had so much fun!

Castle themed Day Term 6

What a lovely way to end our learning about Castles! Chestnut class had lots of fun learning a medieval dance, attending princess/knight school, making swords and sharing a banquet together.

Chestnut Class had a fabulous visit to Kent Life, despite the very damp weather! We enjoyed seeing the animals, loved the trailer rides and had so much fun in the playground! It was lovely to share lunch together and we were all sad to go home. Well done Chestnut Class, you were brilliant!

Sports Day 2024

Team West Malling Heptathlon

We will be running, jumping and throwing in 7 Olympic style events on Wednesday 10th July. Children should therefore wear their PE kit to school on this day, they will also need a sun hat.

As part of this challenge, we invite the children to find sponsors to complete this event to raise money for the local charity the Heart of Kent Hospice. This will support our school community’s contribution to ‘Shaun in the Heart of Kent’ event. Please see www.shaunheartofkent.co.uk for more information about this great cause and fantastic art trail taking place in Maidstone this Summer.

Any donations can be made via our school’s Just Giving page on the following link or QR code. You child will also be sent home with a sponsorship form so they can track their donations.

We hope that this will be a fun, inclusive event where children of all ages and abilities can raise money for a fantastic local cause, whilst taking part in a whole school event. If you have any questions then please contact your child’s class teacher.

Term 6

This term we are going back in time! The children have decided they would like to learn about castles, the people who live in them, knights and dragons! It is going to be very exciting topic to end a fantastic year and planning is already underway for a special 'castle' themed day to engage and bring to life the topic.

Term 5

This term we venture into the exciting world of Science. The children are curious about life cycles, colours, how things go and robots. So, we are going to explore and learn about those aspects of science! We hope to end our term with a bang!

Term 4

An overwhelming favourite for the children this term was animals. So, our journey is going to take us around the world to explore different types of animals and their habitats.

Term 3

Welcome back!

Our new topic this term is "The Elements!". The topic has been weaved together to include many of the things that Chestnut Class wanted to learn about and promises to be very exciting!

Superhero Day!

Chestnut Class loved Superhero Day and looked amazing in their costumes! Our Superhero day is just part of our topic ‘Superheroes’. Today we got to practise our super counting, super building, super jumping, super drawing, super writing and super reading. The children were very interested in the invisibility pens and enjoyed having a go at writing secret messages.

Chestnut Class are also loving our focused book this term ‘Supertato’ which has introduced some of the language linked to Superheroes. Our learning now moves onto real heroes before we get busy with all the Christmas activities!
