Unless you're in school at 8:00am for breakfast club, or arriving in a taxi for a day's learning in the McGinty Speech and Language SRP, the school day at West Malling starts with the gate opening at 8:35am.
Children make their way to their classrooms, typically saying "good morning" to Mr Rye, the Headteacher, or a member of the Senior Team. All children should be in school by 8:45am when the first lessons of the day get underway. If your child arrives after 8.45am you must walk them to the school office and sign them in.
We pause for a daily act of worship at 10:25am. After this, it's break between 10:45 and 11:00am. The second session of learning then follows until 12:00pm for children in Chestnut, Poppy, Lime or Cherry class, or 12:15pm for children in Mulberry, Daisy, Oak, Willow and Ash class.
At 1:00pm lunchtime play is over and children head back to their classrooms for further learning until the end of the day at 3:15pm.
The length of the school day is therefore 6 hours and 30 minutes, giving a total weekly time in school of 32 hours and 30 minutes.
Other than the first and final weeks of each long term, after school clubs run until 4pm or 4.15pm as advised, or the Premier Sport After School Active Club runs until 6pm.
